ArtMill is delighted to welcome TWO Artists-in-Residence this year, Robin Price & Keiji Shinohara.
Dee Hibbert-Jones is interested in the ways we struggle to feel secure, manage anxiety, and work to escape reality given the personal and political insecurities of the 21st century. She explores psychological, political and emotional states, making sculptures, drawings and installations that connect personal feelings and public lives.
Vladimir Kokolia ended his stay at ArtMill with a "lecture" at the lake, on Painting and the Molecular Structure of Water. This tied in to his project to float on the lake and watch the water molecules up close. So the children and two architects, Petr Kalny and Khoi Vo, built him a special raft, where he floated for two days and nights, raising various flags, painted by the students, with picture symbols of his hourly needs.
Kim Abeles kept her door open to the studio all day, where students could pop in and get a costume re-designed, watch her draw, or see a video being edited on her computer. She surprised us with this lovely short video when she left.
