Digital Filmmaking for youth

This course will cover all aspects of video production, from concept to finishing. Students will acquire an understanding of putting their vision down on tape, which includes pre-production planning, storyboarding, shot listing, camera work, sound, and shot composition. They will have the option to work collaboratively on group projects or on their own.

Younger campers will learn beginning concepts of filmmaking, such as exercises in point-of-view, and capturing on video the “essence” of a subject of their choice. They might choose a person, place, animal, or thing at the camp and use video to express its unique nature as they see it. Through the lens of the video camera, they will choose their own form of expression, which may be conveyed through story-telling, interviews, music, natural sound, and the capturing of form, texture, color and movement from the surrounding environment. Older students might come prepared with more developed concepts and story ideas.
