EDUCATION PROGRAMS
ARTMILL IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF INTERNATIONAL NON-FORMAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, WHICH ENCOURAGE A CROSS-DISCIPLINARY STUDIO ENVIRONMENT, AND IS UNIQUE IN ITS MISSION TO COMBINE CREATIVITY AND SUSTAINABILITY (ART AND SCIENCE) AS ITS CORE MISSION. THIS UNIQUE EDUCATION IS ACROSS AGES, APPLIED TO OUR SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM (AGES 7-15) ALL THE WAY UP TO UNIVERSITY LEVEL GROUPS AND PROFESSIONALS.
WE HAVE LED THE WAY IN DEVELOPING A MENTOR HANDS-ON APPROACH TO LEARNING, WHICH INCLUDES AN EXCEPTIONAL PROGRAM INVOLVING VISITING ARTISTS, SCHOLARS, AND SCIENCE-BASED LECTURES BY EXPERTS WHO HAVE AN ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY. WE CONSIDER OUR STUDIO TIME TO BE LABORATORY ENVIRONMENTS WHEREBY STUDENTS, MENTORS, AND VISITING SCHOLARS WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO EXPLORE IDEAS AND PROCESSES.
OUR CURRICULUM IS UNIQUE TO THE INCOMING GROUP EACH YEAR AND CAN BE THOUGHT OF AS AN EXPERIMENT IN DEVISING SOLUTIONS TO THE CHALLENGES WE FACE AS A SOCIETY TODAY, AND HOW TO ENGAGE WITH THE ISSUES OF SUSTAINABILITY, WHILE CREATING THE CONDITIONS FOR CHANGING PERSPECTIVES. THERE ARE NO CREATIVE SOLUTIONS WITHOUT CREATIVE PROCESSES, AND AT ARTMILL WE STRIVE TO PROVIDE A PLACE OF ACTION FOR INSPIRATION, INFORMATION AND IMPLEMENTATION.
ArtDialog launched its education program in 2005, with a children's art and sustainable farming camp that ran every summer until 2010, when the ArtDialog team decided to expand. Beginning in 2007, ArtMill began hosting its University workshops and summer abroad programs. We grow a little each year and are always looking for new educational institutions to work with.
We carefully gear each program to the specific needs of the visiting institution’s curriculum. Our speciality is to have our students work closely with Czech professionals and experts from the arts, environmental sciences and other fields related to sustainability. Because we are small, the teachers work closely with students on a one-to-one basis.
Bohemian workshops started in 2009 as a summer abroad program partnering with New York University. We combine cultural exploration of Prague with intensive creative time at ArtMill, drawing on the best of both city and county and culminating in an exhibition of student work. ArtDialog is currently collaborating with University Of California Santa Cruz to do a yearly Study Abroad titled, “Art in The Global Context”.
